Celestial Petal is a one-of-a-kind couture coat crafted from an authentic American-made carriage blanket dating between 1890 and 1930—a time when such blankets were considered a luxury necessity for warmth during open-air travel by buggy or carriage. Steeped in historical elegance and transformed into wearable art, this coat pays homage to the craftsmanship of the past while reimagining it through a modern, romantic lens.
The focal point of the coat’s back is a vivid oval-shaped garland of bright pink poppies in full bloom. These vibrant florals emerge from a rich batik-inspired pattern in copper, chocolate, and umber tones, creating a mesmerizing, almost celestial effect—hence the name Celestial Petal. The motif evokes both vintage textile traditions and ethereal dreamscapes, marrying botanical beauty with painterly abstraction.
The sleeves, crafted from the original black portions of the blanket, offer a sleek contrast to the ornate back panel.
