TROUBADOUR

Crafted from an American-made carriage blanket popular between 1890 and 1920, Troubadour carries the spirit of open-air travel and timeless craftsmanship into the present day. Once designed to warm travelers on brisk carriage rides, this vintage textile now lives anew as a Nomadic Reign original — a piece of wearable history reimagined through artistry and form.

The back of the coat reveals a majestic horse, woven in rich tones of tawny chestnut, golden umber, and sepia, surrounded by lush foliage in hues of meadow green, olive leaf, and plum violet. Above and below, intricate scrollwork and geometric borders in camel and deep espresso frame the motif, celebrating the artistry of early American loom work.

A sweeping trim of lambswool in a creamy wheat tone lines the hem, cuffs, and collar, bringing warmth and tactile beauty. The collar itself is wrapped in royal purple velvet, adding a regal depth that contrasts beautifully with the natural tones of the woven textile.

The front of the coat features a hidden hook-and-eye closure, maintaining a seamless silhouette, while two silk-lined pockets offer both elegance and function. Inside, a burnout velvet floral lining in muted garden tones adds an air of refinement, its bottom edge finished with woven tassels that sway softly with movement.

Like all Nomadic Reign creations, Troubadour bears its own serial number, unique name, and the artist’s signature — a testament to authenticity and singular craftsmanship.

Preserve the Beauty:

Our bespoke coats, crafted from rare 19th-century carriage lap robes, are cherished antiques with a unique history. To ensure their longevity and maintain their elegance, please follow these care instructions:

  1. Spot Clean Only: Gently spot clean any stains or dirt using a soft cloth or sponge dampened with cool water. Avoid rubbing or scrubbing to prevent damage to the delicate fabric and intricate details.

  2. Avoid Dry Cleaning: Do not dry clean your coat, as the chemicals in dry cleaning solvents can harm the antique materials and intricate embellishments.

  3. Storage: Store your coat in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent fading. Use a breathable garment bag to protect it from dust and potential damage.

  4. Handle with Care: When wearing or handling your coat, be mindful of the delicate fabrics and embellishments. Avoid exposing it to sharp objects or rough surfaces.

  5. Professional Restoration: For any significant damage or wear, consult a professional specializing in antique textiles or restoration to ensure proper care.

By following these guidelines, you will help preserve the unique beauty and historical significance of your carriage lap robe coat. Thank you for caring for this exquisite piece of fashion history.
