Nomadic Embrace is a one-of-a-kind couture creation, handcrafted from an original American carriage blanket dating between 1890 and 1920. Once woven to endure the open elements of horse-drawn travel, these blankets were emblems of warmth, endurance, and artistry—each design distinct, each a reflection of its maker’s skill.
The back of the coat unveils a magnificent motif: three noble horses, each adorned with their original glass eyes, a hallmark feature found only in the finest carriage blankets of the era. The equestrian tableau is framed within an oval of luminous sunshine yellow, golden amber, and creamy butternut tones, set against a field of brilliant forest greens. Subtle striping shifts across the motif, creating movement and dimension as the colors deepen and fade like sunlit moss.
The sleeves, crafted from the solid black sections of the original blanket, lend a sleek silhouette that balances the vibrancy of the woven art. The collar, cuffs, and hemline are finished in forest-green lambswool, adding soft texture and continuity, while the underside of the collar reveals a hidden layer of black velvet—a quiet touch of luxury.
The front of the coat blooms with floral motifs in deep magenta wine and crushed-berry hues, each petal a testament to the intricate craftsmanship of the original textile. Two silk-lined pockets offer elegance and practicality in equal measure.
Inside, the coat is lined in sumptuous silk in tones of buttery cream, sage leaf, and mellow gold, with the bottom hem finished in an intricate braided trim of cream and gold. The front panels and lower interior are enveloped in black velvet, giving the piece depth and refinement from within.
