Nomadic Reign
THE TRIFECTA
Crafted from an authentic American carriage blanket dating between 1890 and 1930, Trifecta is a one-of-a-kind Nomadic Reign Couture creation. Bearing its individual serial number and artist's signature, this heirloom garment preserves a remarkable piece of American textile history. Originally woven to provide warmth and protection for horse-drawn carriage travel during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, these blankets have become increasingly rare. Through thoughtful restoration and master craftsmanship, their stories are carried forward into wearable works of art.
Created from a rare antique Chase carriage blanket, Trifecta celebrates the enduring romance of the horse. The original textile unfolds like a richly woven tapestry, where flourishing crimson roses intertwine with gilded scrollwork and emerald foliage across the front of the coat. Framing the composition are bold floral panels inspired by the grandeur of nineteenth-century decorative arts, while delicate silk loop passementerie traces the opening, lending refinement to every edge.
The reverse reveals the heart of the composition: three magnificent palominos racing together beneath a brilliant cobalt sky. Their flowing manes and animated expressions capture the exhilaration of motion, while each horse proudly retains its original Chase glass eye, one of the most treasured hallmarks found in antique carriage blankets. Preserving all three original eyes is exceptionally rare, allowing the horses to retain the unmistakable spirit and craftsmanship envisioned by the artisans who first created the textile more than a century ago. Below, deep crimson vines weave among antique horseshoes, symbols long associated with protection, prosperity, and good fortune.
The sleeves are fashioned from solid black sections of the original blanket, while the cuffs continue the equestrian motif with woven bridle-inspired detailing. A discreet pocket adorned with wine-colored crushed velvet and an antique button provides both beauty and practicality. Framing the neckline is a sumptuous cream fox fur collar, while generous bands of matching cream fox fur encircle the hem, lending warmth, movement, and unmistakable grandeur.
Inside, radiant golden crushed velvet illuminates the interior, creating a striking contrast against the historic textile. Vintage green velvet grounds the lower lining, while antique looped passementerie and silk tassel trim complete the interior with layers of texture worthy of couture craftsmanship.
An antique Bakelite cloak clasp with engraved metal detailing secures the neckline, offering both functionality and a distinguished period finish that perfectly complements the historic origins of the garment.
Named Trifecta, after the celebrated horse racing wager requiring the first three horses to finish in perfect order, this creation embodies harmony, precision, and triumph. The three galloping horses become a symbol of strength united in motion—a tribute to the enduring partnership between horse and rider and to the remarkable artistry preserved within these rare American textiles.
Every Nomadic Reign Couture creation is entirely one of one. No two historic textiles are ever alike, ensuring that Trifecta can never be replicated. A remarkable union of American textile history, couture craftsmanship, and equestrian heritage, it is a future heirloom destined to be treasured for generations.
