Nomadic Reign
RUN FOR THE ROSES
This bespoke coat, made from a rare 19th-century Chase carriage lap robe, tells a story through its craftsmanship. The coat’s wool exterior is adorned with a majestic stallion, its reins caught in motion on the back, its gaze unbroken with its original plastic eye—a detail the Chase company always honored. The rose floral design, framed in diamond shapes, adds geometric harmony, each stitch alluding to a time of elegance. Holly berries and leaves, swirling in a European-style garland, wrap around the coat, invoking whispers of Victorian romanticism. Two large roses rest at the waist, their petals like silent declarations of love and passion. Fleur-de-lis symbols, proudly placed on the lower front panels, bring with them echoes of European royalty.
The coat's edges are defined with vintage Scalamandre trim, the chenille tassels and looped cording creating a soft contrast against the structured diamond patterns. The rich, royal blue velvet cuffs and collar stand out, adding depth, while lighter shades of tassel trim in blues, pinks, and creams bring a softness to the ensemble.
Inside, the copper-colored crushed velvet lining catches light in a metallic floral brocade, layered over vintage royal blue velvet. The inner trim continues the story, with vintage tassels and corded chenille passementerie, while the bottom edge offers a surprise—chandelier-style blue and cream dangles gently sway as if in motion. And then, the final detail: a vintage, Art Deco, Czechoslovakian enameled buckle, the centerpiece, where history and modernity meet.
Each element of this coat, from the rose motifs to the iconic Fleur-de-lis, speaks in layers, an elegant tribute to European heraldry and timeless beauty.
