Crafted from an authentic vintage carriage blanket from the late 19th to early 20th century (circa 1890–1920), this coat honors the opulent era of open-air travel when such blankets were prized by the affluent for their beauty and warmth.
At the heart of Bambi is a breathtaking portrait of a deer, rendered with soulful, amber-flecked eyes and proudly upright ears. This expressive woodland creature is nestled within an abundance of deep juniper foliage and bright florals blooming in crimson, saffron, russet, and umber tones, all enriched with onyx accents. Remarkably, the deer retains its original vintage glass eyes, preserving the authenticity and character of the early textile.
The coat is trimmed in plush lambswool in a stunning tricolor palette—porcelain cream, burnished copper, and midnight black—gracing the collar, cuffs, and hemline. Surrounding the main motif, a bold border of vertical ember-orange and walnut-brown stripes evokes the impression of tree trunks, while mossy green foliage and abstract arboreal forms emerge within the inky black sections, creating an immersive forest backdrop that wraps gracefully toward the front of the coat.
Two side pockets are lined in smooth silk, while the front features two decorative pockets crafted from preserved elements of the original blanket. The sleeves, cut from solid black panels of the historic textile, balance and anchor the composition. An elegant horn clasp secured with a leather loop closes the coat at the front, adding a natural, earthy finishing touch.
Inside, the coat is lined with opulent golden silk patterned with a fleur-de-lis motif, glowing with warm honey undertones.
