Oh Deer is a one-of-a-kind creation from Nomadic Reign Couture, made from a rare, vintage American carriage blanket dating between 1890 and 1930. Once used for warmth during open-air travel, these heritage textiles now find new life as wearable works of art.
This coat tells a romantic woodland tale: on its back, a serene scene of two deer nestled in a flowering field. One, a regal stag, stands with antlers raised; the other, a doe crowned in appliquéd florals, adds a tender, feminine grace. Surrounded by lush crimson and pink blossoms, the rich, earthy palette evokes forest moss, golden bark, and the deep tones of wild flora.
The coat’s silhouette is sleek and tailored, with clean lines and a generous hemline. Solid black sleeves—cut from the original blanket—are cuffed in soft mink fur and accented with dramatic magenta feathers. The collar is finished in matching mink for warmth and texture.
The front panels, continuing the tapestry design, include decorative pockets; one is adorned with an antique Art Nouveau turquoise sash buckle. The coat closes with a vintage French champlevé enamel clasp, offering a delicate nod to turn-of-the-century European artistry.
