Reins and Roses is a one-of-a-kind couture coat handcrafted by Nomadic Reign, made from vintage American carriage and buggy blankets dating between 1890 and 1930. This romantic and noble piece features a vivid motif of two regal horses—one in a soft cream tone and the other in a rich, subtly dappled brown. Both are adorned with delicate bridles and tiny red bows, adding a sense of tenderness and connection, evoking the imagery of timeless equestrian grace.
The background is a vintage jade green overlaid with deep leafy botanical patterns, conjuring the feeling of a shaded glen. The sleeves, crafted from black remnant sections of the original blanket, are each cuffed in matching patterned wool and adorned with crimson floral appliqués and vibrant green leaves, a tactile detail that brings the coat’s romantic narrative full circle.
The collar is rich black mink, offering both warmth and glamour. The two front panels, also cut from the original black blanket, seamlessly extend the story—the right front continues the horse and floral imagery, while the left side features a crimson velvet-flapped pocket accented with an antique button. The front of the coat is fastened with a celluloid and metal clasp featuring a Japanese-inspired motif, adding a refined, vintage touch to the overall design.
Inside, the coat is lined with a luxurious red wine and gold silk jacquard patterned in fleur-de-lis, trimmed at the hem with woven tassels in golden yellow, sage, and red. The bottom liner features a lush striped silk and velvet blend in warm golden tan and chocolate tones, grounding the coat in understated opulence.
